Chou Sando · Brussels, Belgium: Delicious Japanese sandwiches. I personally adore the ebi fry sando (fried shrimp). My boyfriend is partial to the menchi katsu sando (beef). - Slightly expensive "for a sandwich" but in my opinion oh so worth it for the taste. - If you have a really big apetite in general, 1 sando might not be enough.
Brasserie de la Gare, Sint-Agatha Berchem · Berchem-Sainte-Agathe - Sint-Agatha-Berchem, Belgium: Very Belgian kitchen. Their "Chateaubriand Irlandais / Ierse Chateaubriand" (Irish chateaubriand cut of steak) is absolutely to die for. I get mine saignant (rare) with the archiduq sauce (mushroom and cream). Have it with fries or croquettes. When I crave steak, I crave this particular steak. I know their poullarde is pretty great as well, but you probably can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Le Souffleur - Speakeasy Cocktails in the heart of Antwerp · Antwerp, Belgium: Make sure to make your reservation! It's a speakeasy, so you will only know how to get in, after making your booking by call/online. Honestly, just get anything on the menu or trust the bartenders to come up with something, explaining what type of drinks you enjoy. I learned to drink a "La Louisiane" there. A classic from New Orleans. Absolutely delicious. They also have a podcast episode playing in the bathroom, where they peak about how they got into the cocktail business. Very interesting.
Raffat - Pakistani fusion · Leuven, Belgium: Culinary fusion, experimental, Pakistani. Tapas-style dining experience in a beautifully decorated space. Do be prepared to pay a bit more than you're used to, but if you enjoy having small bites of deliciousness and sharing in your love for food with others, this is the place to be. Great date-spot.
