Terms of use
Last updated 24 October 2026 ยท in effect from 24 October 2026
Giri Eats (girieats.com, "the site") is run by the OniGiri team ("we", "us"). These terms are the rules for using it. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. How we handle your data is on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
1. What Giri Eats is (and isn't)
- Giri Eats is a free map of places to eat that creators and visitors like. Picks and notes are personal opinions of the people who wrote them. They aren't reviews by us, guarantees, or advice.
- We don't run, own or check any of the restaurants. Names, addresses, opening hours, prices, menus and map positions can be wrong or out of date. Check with the place before you go, especially if it matters (a long trip, a booking, a closing time).
- Food allergies and dietary needs: nothing on the site tells you what's in a dish or whether it's safe for you. Always ask the restaurant.
- Distances and walking times are rough, straight-line estimates, not directions. Watch where you're going, follow traffic rules, and don't use the site while driving or cycling.
- Some place details come from other services (for example Google place cards, map pictures from OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap, and links to other sites). Their own terms apply to them, and we aren't responsible for what they show.
2. Your account
- You sign in with Twitch, Discord or Google. Keep that account safe: what's done while signed in as you counts as done by you.
- One person per account. Don't pretend to be someone else, including a creator or the OniGiri team (some names are reserved for this reason).
- If you're under 18, use the site with the permission of a parent or guardian.
- You can delete your account any time under Me โ Delete my account.
3. What you post
"What you post" means anything you add: your display name and picture, your own places and notes, list names, guild names and rank names, and creator picks and comments.
- It's yours, and you're responsible for it. Only post what you have the right to post.
- You let us store it and show it to the people you share it with (your friends, your guild, people with your list link, or everyone for creator picks), as described on the privacy page, for as long as you keep it on the site. We don't sell it or use it for advertising.
- Don't post anything that:
- is illegal, or helps someone break the law
- harasses, threatens or is hateful towards anyone
- is sexual, violent or otherwise unsuitable for a general audience
- shares someone else's personal information (like their home address or phone number) without their OK
- is false or misleading about a business, including fake praise or fake complaints
- is spam, or advertising nobody asked for
- copies someone else's work (photos, text) without permission
- Creators: if you were paid, given something, or asked by a business to post a pick, say so in your comment (for example "PR" or "sponsored"). Japan's rules on undisclosed advertising (stealth marketing) apply.
- Guild Masters are responsible for their guild's name and rank names, and can remove members. Members can report a guild that breaks these terms.
4. Things you mustn't do
- Use the site in a way that breaks the law or these terms.
- Collect data from the site in bulk (scraping) or use bots, except search engines and link previews.
- Try to get around limits, get into accounts or data that aren't yours, or overload or break the site.
- Use the site to bother restaurants or their staff, or to send people somewhere to cause trouble.
5. What we can do
- We can remove anything that breaks these terms (or that we're told breaks the law), and suspend or delete accounts that break them, without notice when there's a good reason to act quickly. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you why.
- The site is free. We can change, add or remove features, limits and places, and pause or end the site. If we plan to close the site for good, we'll try to give notice in the ๐ alerts box first.
- We try to keep the site running and your data safe, but things can go wrong. If your places or lists matter to you, keep your own copy (for example the links you imported them from).
6. Our responsibility, and its limits
- We provide the site as it is and as available. We don't promise it will always work, be error-free, or that the information on it (including what other people post) is correct, complete or up to date, and we aren't responsible for what other users post or do.
- We aren't responsible for what happens at, or on the way to, a place you found on the site: the food, the service, prices, closures, queues, or anything that happens between you and a restaurant or another user. Those are between you and them.
- If we cause you damage through slight negligence (an ordinary mistake), we'll only be liable for the direct and ordinary damage you actually suffered, up to a total of ยฅ10,000. This limit doesn't apply to damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, or to injury to life or body.
- These terms don't take away rights you have as a consumer under Japanese law (such as the Consumer Contract Act) that can't be taken away by agreement.
- If you break these terms or the law and that causes damage to us or to someone else, you're responsible for that damage.
7. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms when the change is in users' general interest, or is reasonable given why the change is needed and what it changes. Before a change takes effect we'll post the new terms on this page with the date they take effect, and for important changes we'll also announce it in the ๐ alerts box on the map.
8. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. If a dispute can't be settled by talking, the Tokyo District Court is the agreed court of first instance, unless the law gives you the right to go to a different court.
9. Contact
Questions or reports: contact the OniGiri team through onimart.gg. To report a list or guild, use Report on it in the site.
