Probably one of the best Vietnamese sandwich joints in San Jose - of which there are many! My favorite item to get here is the grilled pork banh mi. They have a "Buy 4, Get 1 Free" deal on sandwiches, which is nice if you're with friends or family, or want lunch taken care of for a couple days. Do note that there is no seating, and their lines can be pretty long! It's worth the wait though, I promise.
A really solid udon restaurant that's not too far from the Mitsuwa Marketplace plaza! My favorite items to get here are the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon and Yaki Onigiri. They also have bagged sodas with little RGB ice cubes, which are kinda cute. Do note that parking might be a little tricky, especially during lunch and dinner rushes.
Indian-Pakistani Halal restaurant with locations in Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and Palo Alto! My favorite items to get here are the chicken tikka masala, the lamb gosht, and a sheermal flatbread to dip into them. The new Sunnyvale location has seating (and is right next to a Caltrain station), but there's not much parking besides a nearby garage, whereas the Mountain View location is only for takeout.
Chinese restaurant that specializes in Sichuan and Hunan-style cuisine. If you love spicy flavors, you'll love this place. My favorite items to get here are the Sliced Beef Combination in Spicy Sauce, the Sichuan Cold Noodles, and the Stir-Fried Shredded Cabbage w/ Pork. There is seating, but not a ton, so I'd recommend making a reservation or ordering takeout instead.
Every time I visit San Diego, I always make a point of hitting up Underbelly. And every time I leave San Diego, I count the days for when I can finally come back here. There's an immaculate cyberpunk vibe to the neon decor, and the food & drink they serve are REAL good. My favorite items to get here are the Underbelly Ramen and Crispy Chicken Wings, though I've also heard great things about their Bao buns. Getting seated may take a while, but you GOTTA check them out.
